I am trying to set up the following (Newbie):

fastethernet0/0 193.xxx.xxx.46

fastethernet0/1 172.xxx.xxx.1

The default gateway was set to 193.xxx.xxx.1

From the 193.xxx.xxx.xxx/24 subnet I can ping eth0/0 and thats it, but from 172.xxx.xxx.xxx I can ping both eth0/0 and eth0/1, what I would like is to have unrestricted access between subnets.

Any ideas or links for newbie howto's would be great.

Many Thanks

Chris

Hello Chris,

you mention only one default gateway, are both clients on both subnets using their respective default gateways (the IP addresses of FastEthernet0/0 and FastEthernet0/1 respectively) ?

Regards,

Georg

Dear Georg

The primary gateway for all our internet services i.e. proxy connections and novell email systems is based around 193.xxx.xxx.1 if using mutiple gateways will solve this then yes I would try the default gateways for each subnet.

Hope that makes sense.

Chris
