Cisco catalyst prompt rommon> what does it mean?

Hi,

I only get this prompt. Enable doesn't work in this prompt. What do I need to do to get the catalyst 4506 running in a normal mode.

It came with this prompt right out of the box.

It has a supervisor IV engine.

The above link posted by altaf007 is for a 4500 series router and not a catalyst 4500 switch.

If you have a valid image in the bootflash, boot from it. Here is a sample of me booting a switch in my lab

Hi,

I tried booting from image and this works without errors. When I reboot ROMMON returns.

The only thing I can see is confreg is set to 0x102.

Must it always be 0x2102 on the catalyst 4506?

0x102 should work as well. What is the bootvar set to? Can you paste the output of "dir bootflash:" and "sh bootvar"
