Hi

we have intermittent connection problem for our citrix application. And I can see the reason for that is due to the large number of output errors in my ethernet interface.

Can anyone tell me the reason or possible improvement for me the reduce the number of that.

Please see below for the result of show interface

---------------------------------------------------

Ethernet0 is up, line protocol is up

Hardware is QUICC Ethernet, address is xxxx.xxxx.xxx (xxxx.xxxxx.xxxx.xxx)

Internet address is 192.168.x.254/24

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec, rely 255/255, load 1/255

Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set, keepalive set (10 sec)

ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00

Last input 00:00:02, output 00:00:00, output hang never

Last clearing of "show interface" counters never

Queueing strategy: fifo

Output queue 0/40, 154 drops; input queue 0/75, 0 drops

5 minute input rate 20000 bits/sec, 19 packets/sec

5 minute output rate 37000 bits/sec, 20 packets/sec

317427088 packets input, 1279129179 bytes, 0 no buffer

Received 8217819 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

1400 input errors, 4 CRC, 1396 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort

0 input packets with dribble condition detected

315081789 packets output, 945894490 bytes, 0 underruns

18242 output errors, 10991556 collisions, 2 interface resets

0 babbles, 58 late collision, 4931871 deferred

0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier

0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

---------------------------------------------------

thanks

Raymond

hi,

output erors: Number of times that the receiver hardware was unable to hand received data to a hardware buffer because the input rate exceeded the receiver's ability to handle the data.

but you also have collisions. Are they increaesing? If they are, it may be physical problem.
