I am wanting to find the cheapest route to getting
a cisco router up at home. Currently I have a DSL
modem and would like to put a router behind that.
My question is which router could I go with?
I was thinking about the 827 which has the DSL
modem but since I already have a DSL modem could
I go with a 1601 or 1700 model? If so, I then
would be able to work on the IOS correct? Thanks for all the help.

If you don't want to get a DSL router, you will have to get one with 2 ethernet ports. One to feed from your DSL modem, and one to hook into your hub. In the 1600 series, it would be the 1605-R. You may also be able to find an inexpensive 1710 which has a 10/100 port and a 10BASE-T port.
Hope this helps.

Bob,
Thanks for the Info. Where might you suggest I look for your suggestions? Ebay?

Ebay has lots....Another place you might want to look for, would be Weekend Sales which take place in many cities in the US. You might want to check out there, because, you really end up getting routers at cheap prices.

Would a 2514 with dual eth ports works for my setup?

If you found a 2514 at a good price or just have one around at you disposal, then yes it will work just as good as the 1600 or 1700 series.
