Cisco switch question

I have a 'newbie' type question about the physical installation of a Cisco 4006 switch. I used the console connection to make the initial configuration changes. There are 2 GBIC ports, 1 console and 1 management port in the supervisor module. We are not using fiber. I THINK the RJ-45 s/b connected via the me1 port (which is UP) to the hub that is connected to the outside interface of the PIX. I got a green light on both ends but no connectivity. I can't ping the PIX or outside router. The sc0 port is administratively down.

Anyone have a moment to help me out? Thanks in advance.

Re: Cisco switch question

That ME1 port is only for the management of the cat4006 ie to get software to it faster than 9600 or to connect to a management network. It is not a switchable port. There is no connectivity to it.

Hope that helps

Re: Cisco switch question

I had a suspicion that might be the case. So ... the external switching connection is the GBIC ports, right? In that case, I guess I need to get RJ-45 connectors for one of those ports.
