CISCO switch: uplink used to connect a host ?

I see in the catalyst data sheet references to so-called uplinks. Example the WS-C2960-24TC-L has two Gps Uplinks. Can these uplinks be used to connect a host or are there some limitations that make this impossible ? I just wish to convert 1 Gps into Fast Ethernet Channel 300 Mbps (3 x 100 FE). But the uplink, connection to another switch, in that case, is the Fast Ethernet Channel.

You can use the gigabit uplinks to connect to any device including a host device.
