Cisco Works is not able to resolve cisco devices by names,
it is only displaying by ip address.
Is there any configuration to be done.
Cisco works is point to its own DNS server.

Is your DNS setup properly?. Does the nslookup for the device from name to ip and ip tp name comes up fine?

I have the same problem. I have spent several days troubleshooting this same issue. Have had 2 NT admins look at the server and have opened a PRI 3 TAC case with NO LUCK.
I am using a host file and I can'tping by name from the CW2K server. All but a few IP/Name pairs work. It is not a syntax/spelling error in the hosts file for those that don't work.

If you are trying to perform name resolution on devices with multiple IP addresses, you either have to specify the IP address being used by CW to manage it or you have to have a name to address mapping for each address.

I had the same issue. My server folks couldn't figure it our nor could the TAC. I am using a host file and all is fine.

Which platform is CiscoWorks installed on?
What application are you referring to RME or Campus Manager?
Please verify that both forward/reverse DNS lookup is working fine for all devices.
Are you behind any firewalls or proxies?
can you ping the Cisco devices using its hostname?
