Class Based WFQ on Native IOS Mode 6500

Is CBWFQ supported on a Native IOS mode 6500 switch with SUP1A w/MSFC and PFC?

Everything I know about the architecture of the 6500 leads me to believe that it doesn't work as expected.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Is there a difference betweek PFC QoS and "MSFc QoS"?

Re: Class Based WFQ on Native IOS Mode 6500

No. Class Base WFQ is not supported for the 6500 Sup1A/MSFC and PFC.

The following document explains the scheduling mechanism for output queuing on the 6500 series switches running Native IOS:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps700/products_tech_note09186a008015bf98.shtml

MSFC QOS only pertains to frames that are processed by the MSFC and not those handled by the L3 switching engine (PFC). For example, anything that is routed through a FlexWAN port would be handled by MSFC QOS.

The following document explains how QOS works on a 6500 and references how traffic sent to the MSFC is handled by the switch.

A good reference link for information about LAN switch QOS:

Re: Class Based WFQ on Native IOS Mode 6500

Thanks! That was the answer I was looking for. I have a very good understanding of how PFC QoS and scheduling works, which is why I didn't think CBWFQ would work, even in native mode.
