client not receiving ip address

This is with regard to the non assignment of IP address by the DHCP server

to the client.The following is the network setup:

Client-(Ether)-Cisco7204-(FDDI)-Cisco7507-(Ether)-DHCP Server

The client gets an IP address if the command `ipconfig/release` and

`release` is used,

automatic assignment of IP address from the DHCP server fails under normal

operation.

Any ideas?

If the client is not configured with

the address of the DHCP server, it will

broadcast a DHCPDISCOVER.

You may want to pay attention to what

the client is doing during an auto

assignment versus an ipconfig/release.
