Hello,

Is it possible to have two IP address range with different mask on Router side (MSFC ) of 6509 (IOS (tm) MSFC2 Software (C6MSFC2-PSV-M), Version 12.1(11b)E4, EARLY DEPLOYMENT R

ELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1) .

For example , Vlan10 with IP address 166.111.10.1/23 & Vlan20 with IP address 166.222.10.1/16 .

Thanks

Raju

These two subnets are not from the same major net so I don see any issues with using different netmasks. If they were part of the same major net then there is two things that comes to my mind. First, IOS won't allow you to configure the two subnets if they overlap. Second, you should use a routing protocol that supports VLSM (variable lenght subnet masks) such as OSPF, BGP, ISIS, EIGRP RIPV2.

Hope this helps,

Thanks .We have to use another range of IP address also for another Vlan (Vlan30) with IP address range 10.0.0.0 /24 . The native Vlan (Vlan1) will have a IP address in 166.111.0.0/23 range whereas rest of the Vlans(Vlan20,Vlan30) will be in 166.222.0.0/16 & 10.0.0.0/24 . Will it through any errors in 6509 Switch side as native Vlan's IP address is different than rest of Vlan's IP address range.

Thanks

you will be fine as long as the prefixes do not overlap.
