Comments in Config

Is there any way to comment ( insert comments ) in the configuration of a router or a switch .

Hi,

you can use

access-list access-list-number remark ....

to insert comments to ACLs

or

description ....

to insert comments to interface configuration.

But AFAIK there is no general way to insert comments (I always thought ! at the line beginning made it a comment but this doesn't work.)

Yes,

but it still doesn't allow to put a comment to any place in config you choose.
