configuring cisco router 1600

When I connect a cisco 1600 router to a computer via console and com ports and try to configure it using hyperteminal in windows 98 environment, I am always interrupted at the command prompt by the following error message:

" 00:19:14: %QUICC_ETHER-1-LOSTCARR: Unit 0, lost carrier. Transceiver problem?".

I dont know what it means and how to stop this from happening. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: configuring cisco router 1600

Hello,

From Error Message decoder :

1. %QUICC_ETHER-1-LOSTCARR: Unit [dec], lost carrier. Transceiver problem?

The Ethernet 10BASE-T cable is unplugged.

Recommended Action: Reconnect the 10BASE-T Ethernet cable.

Related documents: No specific documents apply to this error message.

.

Check that your cable is well pluged, change the cable, or may be you Eth tranceiver is failing.

Hope this help
