Configuring Discard Eligiblity (DE)in Frame Relay

Lets say our CIR is 24kbps, we want to be able to burst up to 30kbps and anything over 30kbps the DE bit gets set on those packets. How to configure this?

Re: Configuring Discard Eligiblity (DE)in Frame Relay

That is the normal thing for Frame-relay. Traffic after the bc value is marked DE and are dropped during congestion.

All you need to do is traffic shape without adaptive

shaping using CIR = 24KB , bc=6KB and all traffic

after burst size would be automatically marked DE.

NOTE: Be (Excess burst Size) is the maximum amount of

uncommitted data bits/s in excess of Bc that a frame relay

network can attempt to deliver during a time interval Tc.

This data are discard eligible.
