Configuring Multiple VLAN's on the Catalyst 2950

Does anybody know why multiple VLAN's that work so well on the 2900 catalyst XL doesn't work on the 2950. And if anybody has ever configured multiple VLAN's on the 2950 catalyst - HELP!!

Re: Configuring Multiple VLAN's on the Catalyst 2950

It seems that vlan mode multi is not supported in the 2950. I quote from the help pages in the Java administration tool: "Note: On Catalyst 2950 switches, you cannot assign dynamic-access or multi-VLAN ports to a VLAN, nor can you disable pruning"

I have the same problem as you do:

I have a LAN segment with only one switch. I need to split into two VLANs, but the port connected to the firewall should be member of both VLANs. Can I do this with trunking ?

2950 does not support multi-vlan ports. you should use dot1q trunking to those server vlans or use multiple nic cards. Dynamic vlan feature will be available in the next release or so if it is not already available.
