Configuring RIP - Network statement

Configuring RIP - Network statement

I've got 2 interfaces on 2 devices.

172.18.140.2/24

10.16.15.3/24

I want to enable RIP.

To configure RIP what would the network statement be for the above IPs.

Would it be :

Router Rip

Network 172.18.140.0

Network 10.16.15.0

Thanks for the help.

Re: Configuring RIP - Network statement

It would still appear as 172.18.0.0 and 10.0.0.0 with RIP v.1

You'd need to add "Version 2" to the router RIP section to pass classless information and maintain the 24 bit mask.

The other router should be set for V.2 as well if that's the only routing protocol you're using.

Good Luck

Re: Configuring RIP - Network statement

network 172.18.0.0

network 10.0.0.0

is enough to enable rip on the mentioned networks, because by default its version 1 that RIP runs, which is classful Routing protocol.

give command "version 2" under rip to enable classles RIP.
