configuring two 2500 routers to act as frame relay switches

Hi, can someone please tell me how i would physically connect two 2500 routers to act as two frame relay switches in a frame relay cloud. That is, do I connect them with DCE or DTE? and how would i configure DLCI values between them?

thanks in advance.

Re: configuring two 2500 routers to act as frame relay switches

You can connect them back to back using the same db60 to db60 cable (one end dte and other end dce)

R1 s0(dte) -----(dce) s0 R2 s1(dce)--------(dte)s1 R3 s0(dce)------(dte) s0R4.

To configure a pvc from R1 to R4, (with local dlci for R1 - 100 and local dlci for R4 - 200). Use a dlci 300 between R2 and R3.

R2

int s0

encap frame-relay

frame-relay intf-type dce

frame-relay route 100 int s1 300

int s1

encap frame-relay

frame-relay intf-type dce

frame-relay route 300 int s0 100

R3

int s1

encap frame-relay

frame-relay intf-type dce

frame-relay route 300 int s0 200

int s0

encap frame-relay

frame-relay intf-type dce

frame-relay route 200 int s1 300

Here 300 is the dlci used between the switches, to carry traffic coming from dlci 100 to 200 and vice versa.
