Hello.

Can I connect two cisco routers back to back with E1 G.703 interface ?

If yes, Should I use a cross cable ?

Yes, you can do that by using a Cisco tailored made type of Serial interface cable (V.35).

This is how most Cisco Training Centres do in their labs.

Hello.

Thank you for the answer.

Two questions about the answer :

1) How can I get this kind of V.35 cable ?

2) Does this cable connects into the E1 card, or I need a regular serial card on the router ?

Hello!

I hope i understood all this, but i try to explain this the way i :

I guess that you have an MFT E1 or a G.703 card.

The first uses RJ48c(plain TP) and the second one uses DSUB interfaces.

If you are using first, i've learned that one must have a balun (75/120ohm, switches from unbalanced to balanced) between.

If your using DSUB, you should have coax on the other end to switch RX/TX.

I hope you should use a cross cable. Pin no. 1,2 and 4,5 i guess.

Hi Friend,

I have tested this thing back to back but with NM2CE1B module.I had db-15 cable to rj-48 connector two such cables and I tried the cross cable it worked now..

I mean cross cable between these two DB15 standard cables which come with module.

See Although for E1 connection we require external CSU/DSU when we go for back to back no need here.......I have cheacked the full configuration it works.Just tried cross cable it worked. No other cable worked I went according to pin specification ,made my own cable but either crimping was done wrong or what so atlast went for cross cable between two db15 cables.
