connecting routers

Is it possible to connect 2 routers back 2 back via an ethernet crossover cable ?

Hello Carl,

that is certainly possible, as a matter of fact, I have a few routers in my home lab connected in this way. Just connect the Ethernet ports with the crossover cable and you are ready to go.

you can very well connect the routers back to back via Xover cable on the ethernet port.

Plz do find the specification for the type of cables required to interfac different kinda equipments.

DTE to DTE devices use Xover

b. DCE to DCE devices use Xover

c. DTE to DCE needs straight through.

Routers, PC, laptop, server etc are DTE devices

Switch, Hub etc are DCE devices.
