Connecting to Ciscoworks 2000 from another Workstation or Laptop

I am trying to use Ciscoworks from another Workstation or Laptop and every time I try to connect up it give me the Java Error. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Java software and it eventually brings up the Login Screen but it takes for ever. Is there a reason why it is so slow. It doesn't matter what kind of PC I use. I have tried it on my PIII 700 Laptop and my 2.1G Desktop and they are both about the same speed. Also when I try to use Campus Manager once I am able to login it give me the Java Error as well. The server that Ciscoworks is running on has 4 - 550 PIIIXeons and 2 Gig of RAM so I don't thinks it is the server. Any Ideas????

Make sure that you're using the correct Java Plug-in 1.3.1 only installed on your client. If you have multiple plug-ins installed, remove other and keep 1.3.1 only.

On the Desktop that I am using is a brand new PC with no other Versions of Java on it and I still get the same issue.

Thanks,

Dustin

What browser are you using? And what does the java error say?

Here is the Java Error

hi,

on your laptop open the Java-Plugin- Control Panel under START - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL and look again at the version you are using. It must be 1.3.1 b24 and nothing else. If it is another one download the correct version from Ciscos Web Site (http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/java). If you have the correct one clear your Java Cache in the menue of the Java Control Panel close it, clear your browsers cache and close any ! open browser window. After that open the browser and try it again. Hope this helps...

Regards,

Martin

Hi,

I've got the same Problem here. (XP Clients)

On friday i can test it with a W2k Client...maybe it has something todo with that ?

On the CWLMS Server it open's very quick.

Lets see what the W2k Client does.

Cheers

Bernd
