Connectivity to the console port of a Catalyst 1900

Iam lost getting connectivity to the console port of the Catalyst 1900. Iam going from my pc using a db-9 to rj-45 connecter to a rollover console cable to another terminal db-9 connected to the EIA/TIA 232 console port of the switch. All I am getting on the hyperterm session is a few characters. The hyperterm session is set up correctly and this set up works on all of my routers minus the last terminal db-9 connector (the 2500s have the rj-45 console port) I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Re: Connectivity to the console port of a Catalyst 1900

Some older models of 2800/1900 switch require a null modem cable, while others require a regular rollover cable. Since you are using a rollover cable, try using a null modem cable and give it a shot
