by default these messages will not appear in telnet mode. If you want this to appear you just give this command in the enable mode of the router "terminal monitor". all such link and status messages will popup to you.
If you are not wanting to see this messages on your console in enable mode type "no logging console" otherwise it seems someone may have added the command "logging console" or "logging on" to your config. If you are not using any of the logging facilities (which I strongly recommend you at least use logging buffered)the "no logging ?=which logging facility you want to turn off would also turn off other logging.
