console port requiring a username

Hey all, did a dumb thing. I thought I was tightening up access to some of my swtiches and I wanted to do so with the console port as well. Now when I try to connect to the port it is asking a user verifcation. prompting me for a username. I haven't created any. I have tried cisco, enable, admin, telnet. Are there any others. If not, what can I do to get back into the console. Telnet has yet to be configured on this 2950-12 switch.

It's one of those days

Thanks

Matt

Re: console port requiring a username

Matt,

Couple choices.

1. If you've not written the config to memory you could reboot and get back to where you were.

2. REboot and break into romMOn and change configuration register to 0x2142 to perform a break in and copy your start-up config over to running, change your passwd, and change the config register badk to 0x2102 or whatever it was set to.

Hope this helps,

Don

Re: console port requiring a username

You will need to do a password recovery
