Convert nssa to totally stubby !!!!

"Troubleshooting IP Routing Protocols" Book page 326 says :

"Example 8-18 shows how to send default summary route in an NSSA by configuring an NSSA, totally stubby area. This is done by applying the no-summary option on the NSSA ABR

RouterA#

router ospf 1

area 1 nssa no-summary "Finish the quote from the book.

As we know we have more than one area types, I am concerning (these two) about "Totally Stuby" and "Not-So-Totally-Stuby",,,,

Configuration for "Totally Stubby" is :

area x stub no-summary

Configuration for "Not-So-Totally-Stubby":

area x nssa no-summary

My understanding (may be I am wrong) to what the quote from the book above is : that we can convert area from "nssa" to "totllay stubby" by adding keyword "no-summary" ? Is there is a typo in the quote above ?

Re: Convert nssa to totally stubby !!!!

Hi,

The 'no-summary' option is used to make an NSSA area a totally stubby NSSA area, and not a totally stubby area.

Thanks Paresh

((The 'no-summary' option is used to make an NSSA area a totally stubby NSSA area, and not a totally stubby area.))

This is what I believe also.

Does that mean there is a typo (this was my query) in the book that I referenced ?

Re: Convert nssa to totally stubby !!!!

Yes, it would appear to be a typo.

The stub and NSSA concepts are quite different.

Hope that helps - pls do rate the post if it does.
