Converting Spanning Tree from MST to PVST

As in the diagram, we have 2 core network link together via L3 transit VLAN. Network 1 has its own VTP domain and using PVST.

Network 2 has its own VTP domain and using MST.

We are in the midst of collapsing the Core into one. At the end of the day, there shall be only one VTP domain for the whole group.

For phase 1, we plan to convert all the switches in Network 2 from MST to PVST.

VTP domain, VLAN will still retain.

1. What are the necessary step to change the spanning tree type for all the switches in Network 2 ?

What i'm afraid is that during the changing of spanning type, i may lose connection to all the rest of edge switches which are inter connected in Network 2.

Pls advise on the step and precaution i need to take note prior to changing the spanning tree for the Network 2 switches.

Tks in advance...

You can use the following procedure :

1. Enable pvst

2. Remove mst commands

3. You do not have to explicitly restart the spanning tree migration.

4. You can start from anyone of the loop and work it out.

5. You have to schedule all these things in an outage window because at

the time of reconvergence you network becomes busy. So you have to do

all these things in a maintainence window.
