Correct way to shutdown 6509 switch

Hi,

We are having a power outage this weekend and I am just wondering the correct procedure to shutdown our Core switches. Bascially, we have 2 x 6509 (and each has 2 MSFC's)

thanks

No specific way. If you have a power outage, you can just shut down the UPS. Just to be safe, make sure you back up configs and make sure the switch and MSFC have valid images to boot from and boot variables are set properly

The only variation on this is if you have any Service Modules: Firewall, IDS, NAM etc. These have hard disks and so file systems which need to be gracefully shutdown, by sessioning to the modules concerned and issuing the shutdown command, or pressing the shutdown button on the front of the module. The module status LED will then go from green to red after a minute or so.
