Covad DSL service provider is not providing me with much but heres what we got
PPOE bridged service, dhcp client, chap authentication (possibly ms-chap), vpi/vci 0/4123
I am swapping out isp's CPE with a 1721 w/adsl wic and vpn accelorator.
What to use for interface configuration please help
encap aal5snap mux or autoppp ??
Dialer interface BVI or Virtual template interface ??
crypto map on the ppp interface not a problem ??
Anyone try swapping this before?

Hi ,
If your customer is doing PPPOE than you need to have pppoe config on 1700
There are 4 ways to configure DSL ,
1483 bridgin , 1483 routing , PPPOA , PPPOE .
It depends how ISP has configured on their side .
if pppoe follow
http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/794/wicadsl_pppoe_client.html
Here is good url :
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/browse/index.pl?i=Technologies&f=1242
CCO has good document which gives all useful debug commands .
PPPOE config :
vpdn enable
no vpdn logging
!
vpdn-group 1
request-dialin
protocol pppoe
interface Dialer0
ip unnumbered Ethernet0
no ip route-cache
encapsulation ppp
ip mtu 1492
dialer pool 1
dialer-group 1

Nilesh,
Apparently their DSLAM is set up for 1483 bridging and PPOE so how would I tie the vpdn dialer interface with a BVI interface. remember I cannot use unnumbered 0 due to the fact I'm running IPSEC on the router and that is my customers inside interface.

Has anyone else on this board been able to swap COVAD CPE with a cisco router??

No way to tie vpdn dialer with bvi interface. If isp reports 1483 bridging and pppoe, its very hard to belive. It will be either pppoe or bridging. It can be either or.
YES..i have seen covad cpe is exchanged by cisco cpe.
