CPU Hog Report

In my CW2k SysLog report i get several of the following messages produced by an C2500 router:

%SYS-3-CPUHOG: Task ran for xxxx msec (8/1), Process = IP Input, PC = 31663F0

What is the problem on my router?

Re: CPU Hog Report

Most likely too much IP traffic coming in the ethernet port causing the CPU processes to go high. It may be Spanning-tree loop of the ethernet port or traffic storm caused by a DOS attack, etc.

Re: CPU Hog Report

:) its probably cw2k stressing the device (i stopped running that bad app awhile back

it likes to "discover" things on your network, and when doing so, causes

cpu spikes.. next time you see this come up, go into the router

and do a show proc cpu if you see SNMP real big, leave the poor thing alone with cw2k
