crc errors on simplex link without return path.

Hi,

We are using a setellite link which is simplex without return path. We have connected a Windows media server at one end of the link ( multicast streaming ) and at the client end a windows media player.

The line protocl at the both the end of the routers is up ( by doing , ignore-dcd and no-keep-alive ). When streaming from WMS we see that at the host router the 5 min average rate of output packets goes high to 64 kbps , but at the remote end we see in the serial that all the packets are marked CRC with input rate showing 0 kbps ( where as the the link is error free )

Why is the receiving router showing all the packets as CRC ? . THe application is multicast where there is no return path required. Please help.

It is strange to see CRC errors when the link quality is good. But, obviously it indicates a Layer2 problem.Probably you can turn on keepalive and see whether the Layer2 really works without any problem. You can even do some tests using 'ping' command with various packet sizes to gather more information about the problem. Depending on the hardware and software you are using, you can also check if there are any known issues.
