Creating SPAN sessions restarts switch?

When creating a span session or changing the properties of an existing span, the 4006 restarts. Is this expected behavior?

You mean the switch reloads ? If so , then no this is not normal and I would look on CCO for a bug with your particular version .

collect a show tech and show crashdump 1 and if possible capture the "crash" log and open a TAC case. You can upgrade to the latest version 6.3.7 to see if that resolves the problem.
