Cross connecting switches

I am wondering about the best way to connect 5 Cisco switches, a combination of 2900 XL and 3500 XL. Each switch represents different subnets that need to communicate with each other. I assume daisy chaining could saturate ports. Is it better to run a separate cross connect cable between each switch or perhaps connect them with the gbic ports?

If you have GBIC available, then the best thing would be to use them and form a ring so that you would have some redundant path. If you do not have GBICs, based on the traffic levels you could decide to use the cross connect cables to patch them together.
