I'd like to transfer my LMS database(CD 1 Rev. 5) from one Solaris 2.8 system to another in the event our primary server goes down. The backup server will essesntially be identical to the primary, and once the primary is down it'll even have the same IP address. Any dieas on how to do this?
It appears that since the backup server is a new install, and the production server is an upgrade to CD1/Rev 5 that the restorebackup.pl doesn't work properly. When I use the -force option, it does the restore, but when I go into CW there doesn't appear to be any data. Any other ideas?
It appears that the backup/restore does work. I had 2 problems:
1) I was told that the backup/restore would only work on physically the same server. So I really didn't think backup/restore would work, and was trying other solutions.
2) I had a soft link pointing to my installation directory on the old system, but not my new system. Once I put that link on the new system, everything started to work. Unfortunately it took many hours to figure that out.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
