CW2K - "telnet not supported" when adding a device

device suddenly failed on nightly netconfig backup, removed, readded the device, still no effect, changed hostname, tried a different interface address, same response. CW user is defined in TACACS+ and is the same user for all devices, config is the same config across all devices as well.

anyone seen this one before?

What verison of RME?. Is Check Device Attributes displaying this telnet not supported message?

Version is 3.1, yes I get that message after the Check Device Attributes.
