CWBlue "duplicate ip-address" problem with supervisor cards

The problem: CiscoWorks Blue 2.1 and Supervisor cards in Cisco Routers.

By adding a new router (for e.g.: sr5701, with supervisor card installed and sr3701) the message "sr5701 already exists in the db as sr3701" appears. sr3701 also has a supervisor card installed. Both routers have different DNS names and different ip-addresses, but they come with the same ip-address (127.0.0.12) on the supervisor card. This address appears to be hard coded, and cannot be changed. CWBlue 2.1 reports it as the same, duplicate ip-address. CWBlue uses the internal ip-address of the supervisor card for discovering the router or switch. CWBlue should do discovery via the internal loopback interface, like all other routers without a supervisor card.

What can be done about this problem? Is there a "workaround" or a patch?

Thanks - "Kevin Gow" <Kevin.Gow@csfs.com>

This is a known bug (CSCdm94226) which was fixed after release 3.0. TAC can help you with the fix.
