DDR & Dial Backup

Hi!

1. Can I use one interface BRI as for backup and as for DDR simultaneously?

I created two dialer interfaces: one for backup, another for DDR, but only backup worked - dialer for DDR didn't bind to dialer interface BRI.

I have IOS 12.1

2. Is it true that dialer profiles don't work in IOS 11.2?

The same configuration in IOS 12.1 work properly.

Re: DDR & Dial Backup

Without the backup pointing to the dialer1 does the call come up fine when you ping 10.20.20.1? Means,is the dialer2 working normally.

When you attempt to ping the 10.20.20.1, do you have a call already nailed up on the BRI thru the dialer?

What does sh int d1 / sh int d2 / sh int br0 1 2 look like.

deb dialer / deb dialer detailed / deb isdn q931 along with show run will be useful.

Thanks, Mak.

Re: DDR & Dial Backup

Yes, you can use one physical BRI with two dialer interfaces, one for backup & the other for DDR. When there is contension for the BRI the fast idle times with drop the previous call.

Dialer profiles was introduced in 11.2, so should work.

Re: DDR & Dial Backup

Thank you, Mak.

But my config don't work:

interface s1

backup int dialer1

backup load

backup delay

interface Dialer1

dialer-group 1

dialer pool 1

interface Dialer2

dialer-group 2

dialer pool 1

int BRI0

dialer pool-member 1

access-list 101 permit ip host 10.10.10.1 host 10.20.20.1

dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit

dialer-list 2 protocol ip list 101

When I ping 10.20.20.1 I see interesting traffic in debug dialer packet, but debug dialer events shows nothing, hence BRI don't grow up.
