My company wants to roll out a small video conferencing solution so our Execs don't have to fly across the country for meetings.
We currently have a p2p T1 connecting the two sites.
What I would like to be able to do is create an ACL that defines the video conferencing ports as interesting traffic. I would like to dedicated 512Kbps of the full 1544Kbps T1 solely for the video traffic. However, I would like all other traffic to still use the remaining 1024Kbps, and use the entire 1544 Kbps pipe when there is no video traffic.
Is this sort of dedicating possible? I have looked at CAR and traffic shaping and that seems to be too passive for the type of dedicating that I require. If I am wrong and have not looked deep enough into their abilities, please let me know.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
