Deferred counter on FastEthernet interface Cisco 36xx

Why would a interface operation in FullDuplex mode have to wait to transmitt frames (Deferred counter increases) on a routerinterface

Interface is configured for 802.1q trunking of only two VLANS

There should be no reason for this to happen unless the interface is truly not set at FD
