Delayed Response Time from Pings to a Catalyst Switch Management IP Address

When I ping a Catalyst 2980G switch from a computer connected to another Catalyst 2980G, I get high delays:

<pre>Reply from .......: bytes=32 time=220ms.</pre>

The 2980G switches are connected through Gigabit port to a Catalyst 4908G L3. They are on the same LAN.

This is normal behavior. The switch will handle ICMP requests to its own IP address with the lowest possible priority. To test performance, ping through the switch. Pinging the switch itself is not a measure of performance or system utilization.
