Deleting files on Cat 4006 flash

Hi,

Config files have been saved to flash on a 4006 running CatOS 6.3(3).

Having tried:

delete flash:xxxxx.cfg

the switch response was " cannot delete files on device.

The output from "sh deleted" actually shows the file however the "squeeze" command has no effect by not removing the files permanently.

Any ideas please?

Cheers

Ali

Sorry if this sounds obvious but where abouts are the files located?

The reason I ask is that they may be on a Flash card, bootflash etc which will be addressed differently.

Regards

John

Sorry, forgot to specify.

The flash is on a Sup II (WS-X4013?). No Flash cards.

Can you try "delete bootflash:"

I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Tried that but no joy.

Switch returns:

error= -9

file not found

Any other suggestions please?

Is this on board flash or a PCMCIA card ?

On board

can you paste the output of "dir bootflash:". Also do a "squeeze bootflash:"

If nothing works, reformat the bootflash with "format bootflash:" but make sure you TFTP back a valid CAT OS file
