Determining which VLANs use the same physical ports on Cat6500 via SNMP

Hi,

does anyone know how to determine which VLAN interfaces (defined in ifTable and distinguished by its ifIndex) use the same physical port on a catalyst 65000 via SNMP. I need to know that in order to compute the free bandwidth for a specified vlan.

any comments will be appreciated.

Re: Determining which VLANs use the same physical ports on Cat65

You can collect this data using 2 ways :

1) Using the SMON-MIB. SMON is an extension of RMON as such. For this you need to have some sort of RMON h/w (like RMON Probes). Then you can use SMON MIB to poll those probes for more data.

Check this link for more info:

http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/Support/Mibbrowser/mibinfo.pl?mn=SMON-MIB

2) The other way you could do this is by using the Network Analysis Module (NAM). It provides a very efficient GUI to do this all for you automatically.

It also does reporting on a per vlan based Utilization as well as Top N Vlans to tell you which is the most utilized vlan. It does lot more than this.

Check this link for more details on NAM:

Hope this is useful.
