I have DFM 1.2/IDU 1.2.6 and have a problem where the Dial on Demand interfaces are not being set to ONDEMAND, they are being set to NORMAL. Consequently I get masses of alarms when the interfaces go up and during normal use.
I need to change them from NORMAL to ONDEMAND. Does any know why they aren't being set to ONDEMAND and how I can make them so.

Does the interface have encap PPP? What does it return if you do mibwalk on ifType?

The "problem" that DFM weights the characteristics of each object in a special order. Because these are serial interfaces they are set to normal but because of PPP they have a max uptime associated with it.
You cannot change this for an object, -after the next polling DFM reconfiger its inventory to the old values. The way to solve this is to create a new "Polling and Threshold" Group with settings that met your needs. The characteristics for this group must be set in a way that DFM will put the interfaces in question in this group by its own. After you have made any changes don´t forget to "reconfiger inventory" and to "Save Inventory". Here are some useful links:

sorry, just delete the word "partner" in the URL and search for "on-demand" on the site:
