Re: dhcp across vlans

Hi Carl,

We have a feature called 'ip helper', where a layer 3 interface will take a UDP broadcast such as a DHCP discover and forward it to a specified unicast address, such as a DHCP server.

the command is documented here:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios121/121cgcr/ip_c/ipcprt1/1cdipadr.htm#wp1002104

Re: dhcp across vlans

I'm working on the same issue here and when I try to use the ip forward-protocol or ip helper-address i always get "invalid input at ^ marker" where the ^ is pointing to "forward."

I've been reading about these 2 commands from the link above and also from the 2950 and 3560 user manuals, but the commands don't seem to work. Routing is configured on the 3560 vlan communication between the VLANs works properly. Any ideas?

On the routing device (3560) , on each layer 3 SVI is where you would put the helper address ,such as

int vlan 25

ip helper-address 192.232.168.X
