DHCP Server on IOS Devices

I am trying to configure DHCP pools with a "B" Class address subnetted into a whole lot of "C" Class blocks but issue a 255.255.0.0 subnet mask in each block.

ip dhcp excluded-address x.x.100.0 x.x.100.100

ip dhcp excluded-address x.x.100.201 x.x.100.255

!

ip dhcp pool vLAN100

network x.x.100.0 255.255.255.0

domain-name ourdomain.com

default-router <<Default Gateway>>

dns-server <<Primary DNS>> <<Secondary DNS>>

netbios-name-server <<Primary WINS>> <<Secondary WINS>>

lease 0 6

With this configuration, I get issued with an IP Address that has a subnet of 255.255.255.0, when I want 255.255.0.0

I have tried option 1, but...

Router(config)#ip dhcp pool vLAN100

Router(dhcp-config)#option 1 ip 255.255.0.0

% DHCP does not allow raw option 1.

Anyone had success with this ?

Re: DHCP Server on IOS Devices

Wouldn't it be more logical to change

network x.x.100.0 255.255.255.0

into

network x.x.0.0 255.255.0.0

and update your ip dhcp excluded-address accordingly?

Re: DHCP Server on IOS Devices

It would be if we were doing one scope.

In fact, on our remote sites, that is exactly how we have done it.

But we want to do multiple scopes.

That was a good thought all the same, thankyou.
