DHCP Server Problems - 2801

Hi,

I have configured a 2801 as a DHCP server, but every IP that is taken by a host is not released when the host is turn off. Therefore I have to reboot my router in order to have free space in the DHCP scope.

I do not know if I have to use more options or commands under DHCP mode or in global configuration mode. Maybe I have to use another IOS. I am using c2801-ipbase-mz.123-8.T7.bin

Here is the show running part for DHCP:

ip dhcp pool XXX

import all

network 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0

default-router 192.168.2.1

dns-server 192.168.1.8 192.168.1.6

domain-name name.com

lease 5

update arp

Please help me to solve this.

Thanks.

This config allocates 254 addresses for DHCP (assuming that there are no excluded addresses - and none are indicated in what you posted) and has a lease period of 5 days. How many users are getting addresses assigned from this DHCP pool? How long does it take for the pool to get filled and create a problem? What if you were to make the lease much shorter (like maybe 5 hours instead of 5 days - lease 0 5 instead of lease 5)?
