Hi,
I want to have DHCP delivered by the IOS DHCP Service on a C4006 with a SUP III engine. Upon workstation boot and connection to a port on a WS-X4148-RJ45V module, the workstation receives its IP address and is automatically entered into a VLAN based upon that IP address. I want to set 10 VLANS over two VTP-connected C4006-S3 switches ( 8 48-port X4148 modules and 1 48-port X4448). How can I set 10 DHCP pools to be delivered to the workstation based upon membership in a VLAN? Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Set up a VMPS to assign dynamic vlans: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat4000/rel6_3/config/vmps.htm
In case you want a link to IOS DHCP: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios120/120newft/120t/120t1/easyip2.htm
Hope it helps

Thanks steve,
I had the IOS DHCP but was unaware of the VMPS. I'll read up on that.

The VMPS is not supported on the C4006-S3 engine. Any suggestions?

URT is another product cisco has:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/pcat/wrurto.htm
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/wr2k/urto/prodlit/urtrt_wp.htm
I have never used it but it appears to support IOS and CatOS switches.
Hope that works.

Steve,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes I saw that but the list price for URT is 39,999 $CAD. A bit steep for my client. I am working on using ip helper-address for each VLAN and using a MS Windows DHCP server to have multiple scopes one for each VLAN. I'll let you know if that works.

Steve,
Set up a MS Windows DHCP service with multiple scopes. Created Vlans with the same subnets as the DHCP scopes. Put the ports in the VLAN and the workstation successfully get the correct IP address when connected to the port. Can change ports and do an IPCONFIG/release and IPCONFIG/renew and get the correct IP address. Thanks for your suggestions.
