I keep getting this message in my 3550 switches diagnostic log:
1y1w: ***ether_decode src=19.5.6.7 dest=19.5.6.75 prot=1
I cant seem to find what it means, can someone tell me ?
BTW I changed the addresses...

Have you enabled any debugs? Can you paste the output of sh debug and sh ver?

I found that each time the switch is 'pinged' the message shows up.
So I may have found my answer impericaly...
I havn't turned on any debugs (on purpose), note that this unit came as a donation and has an 'experimental version of 12.1 IOS in it.

You do have "debug ethernet-interface" on. Use a "u all" to turn it off
W2S-4.4-C3550-48-SMIA#debug ethernet-interface
Ethernet network interface debugging is on
W2S-4.4-C3550-48-SMIA#
W2S-4.4-C3550-48-SMIA#sh debugging
General Ethernet:
Ethernet network interface debugging is on
W2S-4.4-C3550-48-SMIA#u all
All possible debugging has been turned off
W2S-4.4-C3550-48-SMIA#sh debugging
W2S-4.4-C3550-48-SMIA#
