How to configure the delay before the isdn backup link will be dialed? In my scenario two sites are connected and there is a ISDN backup link configured between them. Both sites have dialer strings. I'd like to delay one site after failure of the serial link.
It depends on how you have configured the dial backup. Supposing you have used the "backup interface Dialer N" command on the serial interface, add "backup delay ".
If you use floating static routes to implement the dial backup, the delay will depend upon the timers of your routing protocol.
Personally, don't recommend both side dialing for backup. If no "load-threshold" is configured, even with the delay, you might end up having 2 calls on the routers, one in and one out......
