Dial-up Remote Access VPN throughput with Cisco 3030

2) What would be the encryption effect (percent degradation, etc.) of using dial-up Remote VPN?
3) Will the compression between the VPN client and the concentrator offset the bigger data size due to the encryption?
4) What can one expect (percieved performance) from a VPN connection verses a RAS connection? There are many different opinions ranging from over 40% lost of performance when using VPN. What is the truth?
