Dialer or BRI interface to go down on failed dial-out

I want a BRI or dialer interface to go to state Down when the router fails to dial-out.

This is for HSRP to track one these interfaces and then to activate the standby router to call-out on a different isdn-2 connection.

I use the commands standby track bri0 and standby track dialer1. Neither of these interfaces will go down when I, for instance, pull out the isdn-2 cable.

Both interfaces stay up(spoofing)

I already tried the commands dialer-wait-for-carrier, dialer enable-timeout, pulse-time.

Is there a command that can help me achieve this ?

Re: Dialer or BRI interface to go down on failed dial-out

You can't bring an interface Bri/dialer down.

The main reasons as you discovered is that they are

always up/spoofing.

The reason why we do this is because if the interface

was down, the ip route would disappear, hence you couldn't

route any additional packet to that interface, which are actually

needed to trigger a call.
