Re: Difference between Dedicated or Interactive Async

If you intend to run PPP over the async port between two cisco routers, you should use "async mode dedicated". If you use some PC software that requires that you interactively type you userid and password to a terminal screen before entering the PPP session then you should use "async mode interactive", which is the default.

Re: Difference between Dedicated or Interactive Async

interactive is exec or PPP, dedicated is PPP only.

the basic difference is with interactive async interface you have the option of getting into exec mode on the router, where with a dedicated if just acts like a serial connection between the 2 networks.
