Difference between hardware types DSCC4 and QUICC for WIC-1DSU-T1 cards

What is the difference between a WIC-1DSU-T1 card that shows Hardware type DSCC4 (hardware revision is 0.88) and one that shows Hardware type QUICC (hardware revision is 0.104)?

Re: Difference between hardware types DSCC4 and QUICC for WIC-1D

Can anyone lend assistance on this? Although these are both Cisco WIC-1DSU-T1 cards and I can successfully configure and perform software and hardware loopbacks on them in the router, they do not appear to work the same. If I configure two interfaces, one with each hardware type and plug them into a smart-jack for point-to-point T1s, the one with QUICC hardware type goes up fine. However, the one with hardware type DSCC4 gets an alarm light (along with CD) on the Cisco card itself and the smartjack gets a TLOS (transmit loss of signal).

Are both the cards new ?

Did you try swapping the DSCC4 type card with a another card with the same hardware type ?

Yes, they are new. I have tried swapping the cards as I have 5 or 6 of the ones that show DSCC4 type, but only one that shows QUICC type.

one is from Motorola and the other is from Infenion,

but both card types are functionally same but different vendors for the chip

Here is the description

Re: Difference between hardware types DSCC4 and QUICC for WIC-1D

Should there be anything different in configuring one card versus the other for the same circuit? It doesn't seem like that should be the case. Also, I'm using these in NM-2FE2W modules in Cisco 3600 routers. Does anyone know if there are any know issues with compatibility between these?

There shouldnt be any configuration issues.

If you are using Network Modules(NM), make sure the NMs are supported by 3660 and those supported NMs support the WIC-1DSU-T1 card. Otherwise , there would be no problem.

Re: Difference between hardware types DSCC4 and QUICC for WIC-1D

I know that there is an issue with the NM-2FE2W modules only being supported on certain IOS versions, but the 12.2 version I'm running sees the cards and the WICs (from 'show diag' command). One other thing I have noticed in trying to troubleshoot this is a difference in the 'show controllers' command. The DSCC4 hardware type shows "TX and RX clocks detected" on the second line and the QUICC hardware type shows "TX clock detected" only. Anyone know why this would be even though I plugged the cards into the same circuit?
